Update from Consolidated Mining Standard Initiative, January 2025

Dear Friends,

On behalf of the Initiative Partners, we wish you a very Happy New Year!

2025 will be a big year for the CMSI as we progress through the large volume of stakeholder feedback on the Consolidated Standard and oversight system.

Once again, we are grateful to everyone who participated in the first public consultation between October and December 2024. Your insights are invaluable, and we look forward to sharing a Consultation Report in the coming months outlining the process and summarising the feedback. In addition, and for full transparency, we will also publish all feedback submissions on the CMSI website with respondents’ permission.  There will be another opportunity to provide input during a second round of public consultation, scheduled for later this year.

In the meantime, we have a busy schedule of events planned for the start of the year, beginning with the Mining Indaba in South Africa from 3-6 February. The Initiative Partners will be in Cape Town for a series of events on consolidation, starting on Monday 3rd with a side event panel at the Cullinan Hotel from 10:45 SAST, followed by a panel discussion on Wednesday 5th on the benefits of simplifying global mining standards, from 09:00-10:00 SAST at the main conference centre (CTICC1). Please join us to share your views and hear more from the partners first-hand.

The CMSI will also participate in the 2025 BMO Conference (23-26 February) and the PDAC Convention in Toronto (2-5 March). More details will be shared on our website soon.

Once again, we wish you all a very happy 2025 and look forward to continuing our collaboration in promoting responsible mining globally, at scale.

Best wishes,

Antonia on behalf of the Initiative Partners.
