Dear friends,
01 December 2025: We are excited to announce that the Copper Mark is calling for applications for Directors for its evolved Board to help lead the organisation as it prepares to take ownership of the finalised consolidated Standard.
The Board of Directors will include one Independent Chair and 16 non-executive Directors. The Board will be supported by mining and value chain committees as well as national panels when needed. This reflects the CMSI Governance Model, developed with feedback obtained through the first public consultation and engagement with a wide range of stakeholders. The call for an Independent Chair has closed, and applicants are being reviewed.
Once established, the Board will govern the evolved Copper Mark organisation, which will also adopt a new identity and take ownership of the finalised Standard, alongside the Copper Mark’s broader work across minerals and metals value chains.
This recruitment is for Director seats for the following categories:
- Mining Stakeholders: Directors from mining-affected stakeholders and rightsholders. This will include one Director from each of the following groups: Indigenous Peoples, labour, social/human rights and environment, with a blend of local/regional and global perspectives.
- Value Chain Companies: Directors from value chain companies, including two consumer-facing companies, one standalone recycler, smelter or refiner, and a component manufacturer.
- Value Chain Stakeholders: Directors from noncommercial value chain stakeholders to be drawn from the following two categories: (i) international NGOs, multilateral organisations, multistakeholder initiatives and academics; and (ii) directly affected stakeholders who reflect social, community, environmental or labour concerns.
Interested parties are invited to view the criteria, roles and responsibilities and apply or nominate potential candidates here. The closing date for applications and nominations is 7 January 2026.
We also invite you to help us spread the word by sharing the Copper Mark’s announcement and LinkedIn post.
Thank you!
Thank you to everyone who took part in our final public consultation, which closed on 17 November. Early analysis shows more than 100 stakeholders and rights-holders submitted 3,000 comments from around the globe.
This feedback will help us to drive positive outcomes for both people and the environment throughout mineral and metal value chains. A detailed consultation report outlining key themes and insights from the feedback received, and verbatim submissions (with consent) will be shared early next year.
Over the coming months, the CMSI Partners will consider all your contributions as we advance the Consolidated Standard, Assurance Process, and Claims Policy towards finalisation. Later next year, the revised drafts will be shared with the Stakeholder and Industry Advisory Groups and the evolved Board for input, with the evolved Board having sole authority for their approval.
Thank you for the role you have played in shaping this initiative.
