Update from Consolidated Mining Standard Initiative, July 2024

Dear Friend,

Thank you for your continued interest in the CMSI. As we reach the mid-point of the year I am pleased to share an update with you.

In September, the Initiative Partners and members of the Stakeholder and Industry Advisory Groups will be meeting again in person in Vienna to work through feedback on the draft consolidated standard, assurance process and multi-stakeholder governance model. This is in preparation for the first public consultation which will be announced later in the year.

The Partners will also be presenting at a number of upcoming events to update stakeholders and rightsholders on progress. Some of these include:

2024

  • 29–31 October: The International Mining and Resources Conference (IMARC), Sydney, Australia.
  • 21 October–1 November: Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) Conference of the Parties (COP16), Cali, Colombia.
  • 11–22 November: UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) COP29, Baku, Azerbaijan; you will be able to find us at the ISO Standards Pavilion.
  • 18–20 November: The Intergovernmental Forum (IGF) on Mining, Minerals, Metals and Sustainable Development Annual General Meeting (AGM), Geneva, Switzerland.
  • 25–27 November: UN Annual Forum on Business and Human Rights, Geneva, Switzerland.
  • 3–5 December: Resourcing Tomorrow, London, UK.
  • 9–13 December: Raw materials week, Brussels, Belgium.

2025

  • 3–6 February: Mining Indaba, Cape Town, South Africa.
  • 2–5 March: The Prospectors & Developers Association of Canada (PDAC), Toronto, Canada.

We are currently working to finalise the details of our sessions so keep an eye on the events section of the website for updates. We really hope to see you there!
