Dear friends,
8 October 2025: Partners of the Consolidated Mining Standard Initiative (CMSI) – The Copper Mark, ICMM, the Mining Association of Canada (MAC) and the World Gold Council (WGC) – are pleased to announce that the final public consultation for the Consolidated Standard, Assurance Process and Claims Policy will run from 8 October to 17 November 2025.
Dear friends,
We are pleased to share that the Consolidated Mining Standard Initiative (CMSI) Governance Model has now been published, alongside a report outlining how feedback from the first public consultation on the Governance Model has been addressed. This is a significant milestone for the CMSI towards an independent Board with multi-stakeholder participation to oversee the Standard and its implementation. The model reflects the rich and valuable feedback received during the public consultation and through ongoing engagement with our Stakeholder and Industry Advisory Groups.
Dear friends,
Last week, our Stakeholder and Industry Advisory Groups (SAG and IAG) met in Barcelona for productive discussions on the Consolidated Mining Standard Initiative (CMSI). We were pleased to be able to come together in-person again and debate the rich and diverse feedback we received during the first public consultation.
Dear friends,
Thank you for your patience as we work on the feedback received during the first public consultation. We have a big milestone coming up at the end of May when we will meet with our Advisory groups in-person to go over the documents. We look forward to sharing an update on that in due course.
Dear Friends,
We are pleased to announce the publication of the CMSI Consultation Report. This report summarises the first public consultation process and identifies key themes from the extensive feedback we received. For full transparency, we have also made all verbatim submissions with respondents’ consent publicly available on the CMSI website.
Dear Friends,
On behalf of the Initiative Partners, we wish you a very Happy New Year!
2025 will be a big year for the CMSI as we progress through the large volume of stakeholder feedback on the Consolidated Standard and oversight system.
Once again, we are grateful to everyone who participated in the first public consultation between October and December 2024. Your insights are invaluable, and we look forward to sharing a Consultation Report in the coming months outlining the process and summarising the feedback. In addition, and for full transparency, we will also publish all feedback submissions on the CMSI website with respondents’ permission. There will be another opportunity to provide input during a second round of public consultation, scheduled for later this year.
Dear Friends,
Two months ago, The Copper Mark, Mining Association of Canada, World Gold Council and ICMM, partners of the CMSI, shared a draft consolidated Standard, governance model, assurance process and reporting and claims policy for public consultation. We have received so much helpful feedback and want to thank everyone who has taken the time to share their views. It is instrumental in helping us to make the draft Standard and oversight system better.
The consultation is closing at 23:59 PST tonight so if there is anyone who still wants to submit feedback, now is your chance.
Dear Friends,
Thank you to those who have already submitted feedback through the public consultation. As a reminder, you can access the draft consolidated Standard, governance model, assurance process, reporting and claims policy, and submit your feedback through the portal here. The documents and feedback system are available in eight languages.
Since our last update, we convened our first explanatory webinar which provided an opportunity to run through the different documents and answer any clarifying questions. A recording of the webinar and a summary Q&A can be viewed here.
