SAG and IAG working sessions

Dear friends,

14 May 2026: Our Stakeholder and Industry Advisory Group members convened last month in Toronto, Canada (and virtually) for two days of productive meetings as the CMSI advances towards finalisation.

Highlights from Toronto

They brought a wide range of informed perspectives to the sessions, including members from academia, civil society, Indigenous Peoples, finance, labour, manufacturing, and mining.

The meetings served to gather critical input and guidance on the Consolidated Standard, Assurance Process, and Claims Policy, following the final public consultation, which received over 3,400 comments in late 2025. Participants contributed to two days of rich discussions focused on identifying and addressing any remaining gaps ahead of finalisation.

As always, the CMSI Partners are grateful to our Stakeholder and Industry Advisory Group members for their ongoing and deep engagement with our mission to unify four well-established standards, to reduce complexity and clarify responsible practices for mining companies of all sizes, across all locations and commodities.

If you haven’t had a chance to read through it yet, we encourage you to take a look at the Final Consultation Report, published in March, which summarises the consultation feedback and key themes. A response to how input from the final public consultation has been considered will be published upon finalising the Standard, Assurance Process and Claims Policy.

An important next step in the process is underway: a consistency review and feasibility assessment to ensure consistency and alignment across the core documents and to confirm the feasibility and auditability of the proposed Standard and system.

Best regards,
The CMSI Partners
