Dear friends,
Last week, our Stakeholder and Industry Advisory Groups (SAG and IAG) met in Barcelona for productive discussions on the Consolidated Mining Standard Initiative (CMSI). We were pleased to be able to come together in-person again and debate the rich and diverse feedback we received during the first public consultation.
The SAG and IAG have played a vital role in guiding this process and ensuring it remains inclusive and robust at every stage. Last week was no different. Over two days, we covered the main themes that emerged from the first public consultation. The meeting provided an opportunity to delve into the detail to help shape the post-consultation versions of all four CMSI components: the consolidated Standard, the governance model, assurance process, and reporting and claims policy. The CMSI Partners remain hugely grateful to SAG and IAG for their ongoing engagement and commitment.
If you haven’t had a chance to read through it yet, we encourage you to take a look at the CMSI Consultation Report, published in March, which summarises the first public consultation feedback and key themes.
A reminder that there will also be another chance to share feedback later this year during a second round of public consultation on the consolidated Standard, assurance process, and reporting and claims policy. A response to how input from the first public consultation has been reflected in the second drafts will also be published in due course.
Finally, I’d like to introduce Caroline Macisaac who will be taking over CMSI updates as I begin my maternity leave from the end of this month. You can get in touch with Caroline at: caroline@miningstandardinitiative.org.
Best wishes,
Antonia, on behalf of the CMSI partners
