First Public Consultation

We are grateful to everyone who responded to the first public consultation, which took place between 16 October and 16 December 2024, on the draft Consolidated Standard, Assurance Process, and Claims Policy (formerly the reporting and claims policy), and Governance Model.

The consultation received a substantial amount of feedback from stakeholders and rights holders with a diverse range of perspectives. Detailed feedback was received from 192 stakeholders in 25 countries, with around 4,700 individual comments received. This substantial feedback helped shape improvements to the Consolidated Standard, Assurance Process and Claims Policy.

In line with ISEAL’s Code of Good Practice, the CMSI Partners have published a Consultation Report outlining the process and sharing key themes and insights from the feedback received.

High-level summary:

• 192 stakeholders submitted feedback during the 60-day consultation period, totalling just under 4,700 individual comments.
• Feedback was received in five languages from 25 countries, with a high volume of comments from Canada, the United Kingdom and the United States, and a diverse range of perspectives from South Africa, Brazil, Chile and Peru, among others.
• Input came from across the value chain: 25% of comments came from the mining industry, however we received notable contributions from other groups, including consultants (16%), NGOs/CSOs (16%), Indigenous Peoples/organisations (7.6%), the midstream/downstream industry (5%), and fewer but comprehensive submissions from governments, investors, labour and other standard setting bodies.
• The Consolidated Standard received the highest level of engagement, accounting for 87% of all comments, while the remaining 13% focused on governance, assurance, and reporting.

Next steps – final public consultation

The final public consultation for the Consolidated Standard, Assurance Process and Claims Policy is now open and will run from 8 October to 17 November 2025.
