Response to first public consultation

Our first public consultation (16 October – 16 December 2024) provided valuable feedback from stakeholders and rights-holders. This input has been crucial in shaping and improving the revised drafts of the Consolidated Standard, Assurance Process, and Claims Policy. We are indebted to all who participated in the first public consultation.

The Response to Consultation Feedback Reports on each component can be viewed here:

This follows the publication of a detailed report compiled by ERM on the first public consultation that was published on 25 March 2025: https://miningstandardinitiative.org/cmsi-consultation-report/.

For full transparency all verbatim submissions were published from respondents who gave their consent: https://miningstandardinitiative.org/consultation/submissions/.

Next steps

  • Over the coming months, the CMSI Partners will be considering every submission as we develop and finalise the Consolidated Standard, Assurance Process and Claims Policy, with input from the Stakeholder and Industry Advisory Groups and the evolved Copper Mark Board of Directors.
  • The CMSI Partners are advancing towards appointing an Independent Chair and Directors for the evolved Copper Mark, as detailed in the Governance Model. The evolved Board of Directors will be solely responsible for approving the finalised Consolidated Standard, Assurance Process and Claims Policy.
